Other Recent Allen County Planning Initiatives

Various segments of the community, both governmental and non-governmental, are currently in the midst of assessing their roles and planning for the future. A number of departmental and organization master plans are now underway, providing a timely opportunity in which to coordinate efforts, compare goals and objectives, and blend each into an overall Comprehensive Plan. Conflicting policies amongst the plans will be discussed and reconciled during the planning process. These "sub-plans" include the following:  

  • Downtown Master Plan;
  • Water Utilities Master Plan; a Stormwater Master Plan;
  • Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Strategy;
  • Allen County Regional Sewer District Plan;
  • Fort Wayne Housing Strategy;
  • Fort Wayne Annexation Strategy;
  • Maumee River Basin Flood Control Master Plan;
  • Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Master Plan (currently under development);
  • Regional Economic Development Action Plan;
  • Economic Development Alliance Marketing and Operations Plan;
  • Economic Development planning by the Northeast Indiana Corporate Council;
  • Northeast Indiana Workforce Investment Board Strategic Plan;
  • Airport Expressway Plan;
  • Northeastern Indiana Regional Coordinating Council 2025 Transportation Plan;
  • Transit Development Guidelines;
  • Fort Wayne International Airport Authority 20 Year Master Plan;
  • New Haven and Leo-Cedarville Comprehensive Plans;
  • Public and private utility plans
  • Master plans from various local philanthropic foundations and human service agencies.
